I am starting to read a book Devin recommended, How Will You Measure Your Life? written by Clayton M. Christensen, James Allworth, and Karen Dillon. I just started it, and have realized there is so much MEAT in it. I will probably be sharing a lot out of it. In their book it states, "I want you to be able to experience that feeling-to wake up every morning thinking how lucky you are to be doing what you're doing." I couldn't explain our experience here in Brazil any better. Yeah there are ups and downs, but there is in all aspects of life. It's how you handle and grow from them that really matter.
We have met so many wonderful people here in Brazil. Two, well Three I would have to say...they recently added a little man to their family. Alex and Victoria are so fun to be with. We went to the Feira with them this Saturday and I am sure we will be making more trips in the future. It was a fun little outing.
You know how there are people in life that uplift and build? Well, these two are great examples. Victoria was one of the first to welcome me here and has helped in so many ways...by lending kitchen items to get us by until our items arrive, to chatting when I have needed it most. Most of all it has been the time that they share. Alex will chat with Connor or listen to his crazy stories, with no agenda. This is one quality I want to perfect.
Walking to the French restaurant...we found some fun, colorful buildings.
Alex served his mission in France. Victoria and Alex shared this fun restaurant with us. It was so proper and cute! Perfect for a future girls day.
Connor's favorite was the éclair. We sat down to eat and Connor ordered chocolate cookies (macaroons) he said, "mom, if I eat all my chocolate cookies, then I can get dessert." haha. Always keeps us on our toes!
Our to-go treats. They were so pretty....but got a little smashed on our ride home. We will be back Maria Antonieta!
What we do with our time is based on our priorities in life. We will invest our time in whatever we value the most. Being here, surrounded by friends and family that share the same goals and objectives of family and personal growth, has been such a blessing.
In the book I quoted earlier in this post it said, "the trap many people fall into is to allocate their time to whoever screams loudest, and their talent to whatever offers them the fastest reward. That is a dangerous way to build a strategy." Great advice. Taking the time to evaluate what you want in life and what will help build you to that point is so important. It might not be the fastest way, but in the end you will reach your goals. Being here in Brazil was such a good decision. It has pushed both Devin and I in ways we have never been pushed before.

Sounds like a book I may have to read! I love all the places you are going...love all the bright colors...so many backdrops :)
