What I love even more than visiting the locations is meeting the people he taught and baptized. This is Rosmary, she made a delicious Brazilian lunch. Lunch here is like dinner for us in the US. It is their big meal of the day. I am excited to learn some fun Brazilian dishes.
She taught me a great way to make beans. I am excited to try.Presli played with all of her baby dolls. It was priceless really. Knowing that these dolls had been played with years and years ago. They were all blonde hair, blue eyed babies. Just like Pres. She loved it.
Dessert Rosmary made for us. Dawson loved the prunes.
The kids made themselves right at home. It was so comfortable in her home. Dev and Rosmary visited while I tried to make sense of it all. I caught a few words here and there...and then I would understand what they were talking about but not exactly what they were saying. It was a vicious cycle. It was great just being. We were all happy.
Rosmary's son is currently serving a mission in Manaus, which is in the center of the Amazon. He will be returning home here in a couple weeks. We are excited to meet up with Rosmary, Adao (her husband), and son. She is so kind to us and treats us just like family.
This is a wall on Rosmary's street. I loved it. The sun was so bright and the kids were so good to sit and get their picture taken for me in front of it. We might have to try again on a not so bright day.
More of Dev's area.
I think this is a place we will be returning to often.
Looks like he had some pretty nice areas!
ReplyDeleteMade me tear up ... again. Glad you're all doing so well, and that Dev is getting the opportunity to re-connect with his mission.
ReplyDeleteIt is so neat!
DeleteHow fun to meet up with people that Devin taught on his mission!
ReplyDeleteThat wall is awesome!
yes, I love it! I love the wall too....
Delete(This is Laura...;) So fun! I felt the same in Spain with Jake! Visiting the people he taught was the best, but I'm with you- just trying to enjoy your time there while also trying to understand what's going on AND express your love to these people with no real words to do it.... Tricky, but very special moments! Love the updates!
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! So neat, such a great experience!
