Guess who started school in Brazil today?? These two!
The school is just down the street. One perk of this school for the time being. We only have one car, so we can get to and from school, no worries.
The school year is different here in Brazil. They start their school year in Feb. Their winter break is July (weather is opposite than the states. July it is winter here.) and summer break is Dec and Jan.
Daws and I stayed for the day to make sure the kids adjusted okay. He SOOOO wanted to go play with everyone.
Pres making friends.I finally took him outside to play because he couldn't stand it any longer. It rained all night so all the equipment was quite wet, but he didn't care...and either did I. We were both happy.
Secure little school. That is an electric wire along the top of the concrete fence. I feel good about this place.
Connor and Presli both have show and tell tomorrow (Connor's favorite day of school back in the states). On Fridays Presli gets to do a ballet dance class and Connor gets to do a sports/PE class. They are both really excited about this being a part of their school...I am too! Two birds with one stone.
Walking up to our front gate. My first time getting through on my own. I can do this. It will take some time and looking quite foolish, a lot, but I can do this. I have to keep telling myself that.
The language is my biggest obstacle right now. I feel so helpless. I didn't realize how great it is to be able to communicate until I couldn't. I wanted to go visit Keisha the other day because her entrance to her neighborhood is right across the street from us. I knew I couldn't get into Keisha's place but I was going to try to just say her or Bryce's name and then they would call Keisha and she would let me in. I started gathering the kids stuff to go for a walk and then I realized I couldn't even get out of my own housing. Actually I could probably get out just fine, but getting back in wasn't a guarantee. I was very discouraged. If I want to go and do anything Dev has to be right there. It is part of the process, I know. I just wish it was a faster process. He has been so good to help me, but I know it gets old for him. He helped me get a key card to get into Keisha's complex and he helped me write out a phrase to get me back into my housing. Today was proof to me that I can do this. It was what I needed.

Oh my gosh! You're doing awesome! Seriously I'm impressed. Yes, keep telling yourself you can do it. You'll make it! :)
