What a week! I Juuust finished the General Woman's Meeting full of so much good stuff (determination to do and be better, encouragement, empathy, direction, etc). We got together with the girls here to watch it in English...and I had to leave in the middle (scroll to the bottom if you're dying to know why). Needless to say it was a beautiful meeting full of encouraging yet understanding words. It was so personable. Can't wait till General Conference in just a few days.
They were all my favorite but President Uchdorf's talk really stood out to me today. He spoke about women who helped him become the man he is today. As he spoke here are a few words/phrases he used to describe women: sunshine, strength, inspire, nurture, bless, Child of God...and those are just a few. No matter who you are: race, culture, religion you are a daughter of God and he has great expectations for you. He sent us here to prepare something greater.
We are all essential to God's plan. It is important that we obey ALL of God's commands because he understands more than we do. He wants you to choose what is best for you. That's were agency come into play. He already knows what is best for you, but he wants you to make that choice on your own. You will better understand yourself when you better understand God. The creator of the sand, seas and stars is reaching out to you. Quite humbling really when you look at the bigger picture. I love God and I am so grateful that he loves me too.
WARNING: There are graphic photos....if you faint at the sight of blood do not keep scrolling.
While I was with the girls watching Women's Conference I got a call from Devin saying "You better come home, Dawson has split his head open." The call any parent dreads. I couldn't get to his side fast enough. I ran inside and I took Dawson and applied pressure to his head while Devin called around to figure out where we needed to take him. Keisha was inspired to leave right after me and walked in the door just as I was looking for my phone to call her. She stayed with the kids while we ran to the hospital.
Once we got to the hospital we grabbed a number and waited in line. It was actually faster than we thought it would take to get in. I could only hold on to my baby for so long. Only one parent could go with him to get stitched up...and since I can't speak Portuguese it was given that Dev had to go. I am not going to lie, I was a nervous wreck....not knowing what was going on. Blood on my shirt and all...
Devin said he was a champ. He sat there and took all the needle prodding to numb his head and sat so still while they were stitching him up.
.....he was fine until the nurse held him to get a picture....and lost it. Devin said he was inconsolable.
Once we got home it was late Saturday night (or early Sunday morning)....like 12:30-1ish. He was feeling good and eating a popsicle with dad. It was quite tramatic, first of all being in a different country...and our first ever visit to a hospital in Brazil (we weren't sure about the process)...and it was another first for our family, he is the first to get stitches. He is doing fine and his head is healing. We will get his stitches out in 10 days.
As the title of my post this week....I can't wait or Conference this weekend for a little more booey-ing up.

Your entry about WGConf was so inspiring that I did not see that coming! I am so sorry for him. Alvin has 10 stiches on his forehead if I add up all the stiches he had in the three different places he has gotten hurt. The feeling is terrible. I cant believe he sat so still - that did not happen for Alvin! I hope he gets better soon. I am glad you got taken care fast.
ReplyDeleteSo sad for your little man. I am glad he is healing up!
