Our Kids

We were out and about Saturday and I grabbed a few shots from my phone. I rarely carry my nice camera around because I don't want it stolen. Bummer, but I am glad I can still grab some phone shots to remember and also share with everyone.

I have been thinking a lot lately. A lot about life. A lot about our kids. A lot about my relationship with Dev. I love my family so much. Dev and I have a lot to teach our kids and I came across an article the other day asking what I would want my children to know. This quote specifically stood out to me, "It's a whole lot easier to build the child than to repair the adult." It sparked something in me and I started writing in my journal. I wrote for quite a while and just made a list of everything I wanted my kids to know about life. Things I have learned about life. Things I want to learn about life. Things I am currently learning about life.

1. Exercise it crucial - it helps with stress along with keeping the body healthy.
2. Share your burdens - you don't have to face life's obstacles alone. Share your burdens with mom or dad or God. God has all the answers.
3. Know your limits - if a problem is beyond your limits admit it and accept there is only so much you can do.
4. Self-Respect - You are special. Treat yourself that way. Eat properly, get good sleep, dress upbeat and modestly, groom well, and exercise.
5. Relaxation - Take quiet time for yourself. Time to self-interview and see where you are at in life.
6. Involve yourself - One way to deal with trials or stress is to focus your attention other people. Serve others. Find balance.
7. Be organized - make lists of what you need to do and what to do and then check it off. Lists give order and make complex tasks seem possible.
8. Admit you are wrong - We all have the ability to be wrong. Learn to do your best and accept that you will fall flat on your face from time to time. Just pick yourself back up, and smile or laugh at yourself and move on.
9. Develop a sense of humor - Read jokes, interact with joyful people and learn to laugh with them. Laughter is the best medicine.
10. Expressing your emotion is okay. If you are sad, it's okay to cry. Cry and then get back to life. Laugh a lot. Don't take yourself too seriously. It's okay to feel afraid, to be angry. Just don't hurt others. Recognize your feelings, address them and move on.
11. Get away - Take time out. Find a peaceful place and go there...for nothing else, but to get away. Go fishing, go shopping, do something you enjoy doing.
12. Avoid self- medicating - the suggestions so far are much better ways to deal with your troubles and stress in life and it is much healthier.
13. Last of all....The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. You have been blessed with it in your life. Learn to know of it's truth for yourself. Embrace it and use it to live life to the fullest. God loves you and I love you very much.

I am going to keep adding to my list as I think of things, but for now it's a start. Very overwhelming. My family is my everything and I only want the best for them.

On another note...Connor officially started soccer today and Dawson dreams of playing along side him. Life is good.

...We finally got into the Temple grounds...and Presli was so excited she could hardly contain herself. She skipped down the sidewalk in heaven! Her next item on the list is to go inside. I told her we could wear her dress next time and maybe go into the visitor's room or something. A new goal for her. It's so cute. She tells me almost every day she wants to get a white dress and go to the temple.
