Devin and Bryce originally planned on going to the game together. Last minute Bryce couldn't go so Keisha offered to watch our kids while we went to the World Cup game. It was epic. Devin has been talking about going to the World Cup for YEARS! He always reminded me that the World Cup is in Brazil in 2014. Yeah, yeah I would think in the back of my mind...not really knowing how we would ever get to the games. Well....here we are. This is the day we went to one of the World Cup game. It was a blast! I enjoyed it all, but I enjoyed it even more because I knew Devin has dreamed about going to the World Cup for years....and here we are.
On our way...
I snapped pictures on our way just to capture a bit of Brazil. It is so gorgeous. Parts do remind me of the United States. I won't caption most of these just wanted to show our drive and what we experienced a long the way.We made it to the stadium in plenty of time to roam around and just soak it in. The traffic wasn't as bad as we thought and it was so enjoyable. LOTS of people sharing the same passion!
Watching all the games so far I didn't really think about the refs and how far they run during the whole game. They were warming up along side all the players. In one game the refs run approx. a half marathon. Pretty intense!
Funny story about these cups. We picked the kids up and on our way home Connor asked if we brought them anything. I quickly thought of the cups that our drinks came with. They were plastic so we kept them and I said, "Yeah, we brought you some awesome cups!" Connor quickly replied, "Oh awesome, are they the world cup?" I agreed and said..."yeah, they are the world cup...they are from the world cup." Devin and I thought it was pretty funny. He looked at the cup like this is what all the hype is about?! "This isn't the World Cup," he said. "No they aren't but they are from the world cup," I reassured him. He was pretty happy to have a cup with a soccer ball on it from the world cup.
Another fellow American...
Alllll the reporters....actually this was only a portion of them. They lined the length of the field.

All the way home Devin and I would randomly comment how awesome it was to go. One check off of Devin's bucket-list item. It would have been so awesome to go to an American game and share our American pride, but it was pretty neat to watch passion from the other two Countries who did play. I could feel their excitement and love for their countries. We love you America!
